On the morning of November 28, a delegation led by Xiao Guiyu, Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Deputy Secretary of the Leading Party Member’s Group of the Committee, paid a special research visit to Shanghai Electric Group. Wu Lei, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Shanghai Electric Group, accompanied them.
The delegation toured Shanghai Electric’s advanced equipment exhibition hall, gas turbine production facility, and blade production facility, expressing keen interest in the company’s rich history, cutting-edge manufacturing capabilities, and substantial growth potential.
At the subsequent symposium, Mr. Xiao attentively listened to a comprehensive briefing on Shanghai Electric’s current operations and long-term strategic plans. During the symposium, he highlighted that Shanghai Electric plays a pivotal role as a leading state-owned enterprise in upgrading the industrial structure, and the company’s high-quality development is integral to the success of Shanghai’s "Five Centers" initiative, particularly in establishing the city as a global economic center. Mr. Xiao urged the company to accelerate the development of new quality productive forces by prioritizing high-end, intelligent, and green innovations that propel transformative landmark projects. He emphasized the importance of strengthening capabilities in breaking critical technological bottlenecks, noting, “What we tackle today becomes the foundation of tomorrow's achievements.” He also encouraged Shanghai Electric to seize opportunities during the ongoing reform of state-owned enterprises, focusing on institutional and systemic advancements that align with national strategies, meet strategic needs, and foster a robust framework for sustainable growth.
