On September 9 (local time), Lin Shanqing, Deputy Director of China's National Energy Administration visited our CSP + PV project in Dubai. He was accompanied by Zhu Zhaokai, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee at Shanghai Electric Group, and Dong Yijun, Party Committee member and Head of the Party-Masses Work Department.
After listening to the work report by the Dubai project team, Lin Shanqing acknowledged the project outcomes over the past year and the contribution of employees from Shanghai Electric. Lin said that the Dubai project has been a name card along the Belt and Road, promoting the sustainable development initiative to jointly build a green silk road. Shanghai Electric has never been involved before in the construction of a CSP + PV plant, so stable policy from the group is necessary. The project team should improve science-based management and promote technological innovation so as to increase the overall production efficiency and reduce production cost and potential lead-time risk. At the same time, the project team should take into account the realities and prioritize talent cultivation. An international team that brings together young talents from around the world should be in position.
Lin noted that Shanghai Electric should pay attention to the psychological state of the project members and develop a proper leave system that allows them to go home on furlough from a long-term assignment. A healthy environment for employees will help the project run smoothly, thus ensuring that Shanghai Electric gain market recognition in the area of new energy.
Lin also emphasized that the National Energy Administration has long been supportive of Chinese companies in going out. As green energy resources are promoted across the globe, Chinese companies are encouraged to seize the opportunities created by the BRI, deepen international energy cooperation, and seize the initiative to capture the energy market. As Chinese companies become global, they can play a bigger role in building an international energy system that is clean, low-carbon, safe, and efficient.
It is learned that the project adopts the world-leading CSP and PV technologies in both towers and cylinders. Upon completion, the 24-hour plant will become an iconic facility with the most advanced and forward-looking technologies, a record output, the biggest scale, and the highest towers.
