The 2019 edition of World Future Energy Summit was held from January 14 to 17 (local time) at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center, UAE. Shanghai Electric Power Generation Group for the first time sent a delegation to the summit where it, together with global counterparts, played an electric symphony by displaying various solutions in solar power generation, sea water desalination, renewable thermal energy generation, solar power generation + sea water desalination, gas turbines, energy storage, distributed energy resource, and power plant engineering.
As a pioneer in renewable energy, Shanghai Electric helps build the Dubai Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum CSP + PV Project. An undoubted focus at the summit, it attracted the attention of authoritative media at home and abroad like Euronews, the People's Daily, and CCTV. Yang Jiechi, President Xi Jinping's Special Representative, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, also mentioned the project in his remarks at the opening ceremony.
Shanghai Electric also introduced an integrated solution that combines solar power generation with sea water desalination. It not only enables stable 24-hour power generation from renewable energy sources, but creates conditions for thermal desalination at a low cost. Many customers took great interest in the solution. There is a huge potential market in the Middle East for gas turbines, distributed energy sources, and renewable thermal energy generation solutions. Their debut showed strong system integration capability and engineering capacity of Shanghai Electric.
It is worthy to note that our staff at the summit, via multiple channels provided by the organizer such as the business negotiation platform and point-to-point invitation, identified dozens of valuable customers for on-site business negotiation in order to maximize the conversion rate after the exhibition.
As part of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, the World Future Energy Summit is the biggest platform in the region for discussions and exchanges about energy security, water resource security, response to climate change, and sustainable development. The summit welcomed over 850 exhibiting companies from more than 40 countries and more than 30,000 attendees from 170+ countries and regions, including government officials, representatives of multinationals and international organizations, and energy experts.
