The 5th China Brand Economy Forum, organized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Shanghai Municipal Government, was held on May 10 in Shanghai. The forum also unveiled the 2019 China Brand Value List, in which Shanghai Electric ranked 44th, five places up compared with last year.
As the world's first ranking list to evaluate the innovation value of Chinese brands from the supply side, this year's list placed a higher emphasis on the inherent drivers behind brand value creation and the real results in the past year. In 2018, Shanghai Electric achieved several milestones in its "going global as a Shanghai brand" movement by winning contracts for several major overseas projects, including the Dubai CSP + PV Project and the 6600MW clean coal-fired power plant in Hamrawein, Egypt. These achievements have substantially enhanced Shanghai Electric's brand power and influence in the international market. The brand even outperformed China Eastern Airlines, Lenovo Group, Chow Tai Fook, and other renowned Chinese companies in terms of value creation, which is a reflection of its growing influence and popularity.
Apart from the China Brand Innovation Value List, the selection committee also focused on Made in China brands and Top Four Shanghai Brands, and for the very first time released the Made in China Brand Innovation Value List and the Shanghai Brand Innovation Value List. Shanghai Electric ranked 18th and 5th on these two lists, respectively.
